I haven’t made mussels in ages but saw these bea I haven’t made mussels in ages but saw these beauties in the seafood case @kellermeats_exchangemarket this week and couldn’t resist 😍. I tripled the veggies (beautiful little rainbow carrots from @fairviewmeadowfarm ) in the @bonappetitmag recipe for red curry mussels, served with crusty slices of baguette and a glass of @whwines pinot noir (my fave 🍷) for a perfect late night Friday dinner… so good! #mussels #redcurrymussels #bonappetit #fairviewmeadowfarm
If one food symbolizes summer cookouts for me, I'd If one food symbolizes summer cookouts for me, I'd have to say it's the All-American burger! I love making as many things as possible from scratch, but there are a few foods that I really enjoy buying prepared...flavored burgers from a great butcher are one of those things! I picked up a few varieties from @kellermeats_exchangemarket a few days ago and we all built our own burgers last night. We tried their 50/50 lamb/beef burgers (try it with tzatziki, lettuce, tomato, super thin sliced cucumbers and crumbled feta...OMG), to-die-for bacon-cheddar burgers (bacon. and cheddar. IN the burger...👏need I say more????), and their Magic Burger which I layered with leaf lettuce, bacon, an heirloom tomato slice, white cheddar and some of my chipotle rhubarb bbq sauce 😍....they were all SOOOOO GOOD!!!! And since the patty-making work was done for me, I had time to make my favorite pretzel buns ❤️! If you're looking for a bun that will stand up to your messiest burger creation...this is it! The buns (and the rhubarb bbq sauce) are on the blog for all of your long weekend DIY Kitchen enjoyment 😊

“I don’t know what you put on this chicken but “I don’t know what you put on this chicken but these are the best wings yet!” and “You need to make them like this every time from now on!”
Statements like that are the way to my heart ❤️ (and insurance that I will be making whatever it is again and again)!

They’re also the reaction I got from my wing-loving sons (who can be difficult to impress) when I made these citrus rubbed wings with feta cream for the first time a few nights ago.
These wings are crispy, sweet and savory with a fresh pop of citrus. The feta sauce is cool and creamy and perfect for dipping. They were SOOOOOOOO good!
There was something that made them extra special, though... I talk about @kellermeats_exchangemarket quite a bit here with good reason. I love their quality and service and they’re always coming up with something new. So when they gave me a new chicken cut they were carrying- Keller Wangs™- I was excited to bring some home and try them out. I made this recipe with traditional wings and with Keller’s new cut and they were both awesome. But, you know what? I’m probably not going to be buying traditional wings again as long as these are an option! They’re all dark meat (helloooo flavor!) and literally twice the size of regular wings with three times the meat. And they cost less per pound. If you live close by you need to check them out!
You can find the recipe on my latest blog post (link in bio)! #chickenwangs #chickenwings #kellermeats #dryrub #breathingandcooking
You know how they say you eat with your eyes first You know how they say you eat with your eyes first? Well, whoever "they" are? I'm pretty sure that THIS garden bean salad with citrus vinaigrette is what they were referring to! All of summer's gorgeous colors and bright, crisp flavors in one beautiful rainbow of a salad.

August and September are my favorite months for produce...it seems like everything is in season at once. And eating with the seasons- and sourcing as local as you can- is great not only for your tastebuds, but for your health and for your community, too ❤️

Beans from my daughter's garden, tomatoes from mine, quail eggs (gah!! How cute are they????) from @alisonssuperfoodsmarket, watermelon radishes from @farmerjonesfarm and the recipe link in my profile 😊

What are your favorite in season ingredients right now?

Our big weekly dinners have been a little smaller Our big weekly dinners have been a little smaller this summer. Two more daughters moved a little farther away and I’ll admit I was struggling with it for a bit. Letting go can be tough even when your kids are adults ❤️… so recently I was thrilled when they were both in town for a big family dinner again! I’d been putting this andouille stuffed boneless chicken with Cajun cream sauce together in my head for a while and it was the perfect opportunity to try it out. It did not disappoint! Recipe is on the blog (chicken and andouille sausage can be found @kellermeats_exchangemarket ) #breathingandcooking #bonelessstuffedchicken #cajunchicken #kellermeats
Have you noticed that the peaches this summer seem Have you noticed that the peaches this summer seem especially sweet and juicy 🍑?? So far we’ve been enjoying them au natural, cooked down with bourbon and swirled into salted honey ice cream, and tossed over morning yogurt bowls. But my favorite way to enjoy them? Piled high, topped with buttery streusel and baked to bubbly perfection in one of summers tastiest treats… peach pie ❤️❤️❤️ the recipe is from the @modelbakery cookbook and it’s perfection 🥰 #peachpie #streusel #summertreats #inseason #modelbakerycookbook #breathingandcooking

I learned about @fairviewmeadowfarm this past spri I learned about @fairviewmeadowfarm this past spring and have looked forward to picking up my family’s order each month since. Supporting farmers who have a passion for quality and a heart for being good stewards of the Earth is so important. Today I was honored to walk the farm with Nate and see and hear firsthand the beauty and importance of what they do. The beauty of eating fresh vegetables in season is The beauty of eating fresh vegetables in season is that their colors and flavors and textures are exactly as nature intended them to be. They haven't traveled miles and miles before they get to your plate.

I saw a little handwritten sign on the side of the road yesterday on my way to make a delivery- "Asparagus"- and I made a mental note to stop by on my way back home. When I pulled in there was a blue cooler and an old metal toolbox on a folding table outside a small shed. I opened the cooler and grabbed 2 beautiful purple and green bundles of asparagus with flecks of soil speckled on the ends of their freshly cut stalks and put $6 in the toolbox. There is something I love so much about the simplicity and trust involved in that kind of transaction ❤️. I decided last minute not to cook them...they were so fresh...I wanted to experience them as close to their natural state as possible. I recalled a recipe I'd heard @markbittman recite on his podcast that was one of those no-need-to-measure, simple tributes to in-season produce and am pretty sure this is how it went. It was delicious. And simple. And something I highly recommend you make very soon while asparagus is at it's tender-crisp-sweet perfection....

Cut the tips from the asparagus (halve them if they're large) and place in a bowl. Shave the outer layer of each stalk with a vegetable peeler and place in the bowl with the tips. Slice the peeled stalks thinly on the diagonal and add to the bowl with everything else.

Drizzle with some good olive oil (I used a walnut-olive oil blend), squeeze some fresh lemon over and toss.

season with flaky sea salt and a few twists of coarse pepper. Shave parmesan over top (don't grate it, shave it, it's just better that way) and toss again gently.

That's it. Asparagus perfection in just a few minutes with just a few ingredients 🥰

Thank you Mark for the recipe (or the inspiration if this isn't exactly how it went)! #asparagus #asparagusrecipe #rawasparagus #eatingseasonally #markbittmanrecipe #breathingandcooking
